Don't Kill the Messenger

We all have to be conscious of the messages that send out. Just because we are not aware of them doesn't mean that they don't exist, or offend. For example, if you are doing business with an environmental group or company please don't walk into the meeting with a plastic water bottle. Before opening your big fat mouth, you have just relayed 3 things - 1) "I really don't care about the environment 2) I'm too lazy to figure out simple ways to help the environment, and worst of all, 3) I'm trying to do business with your company and I haven't even bothered doing my research!" YES, you have just relayed all of these things with that one little action. Now will that particular environmental firm even bother telling you any of this? NO. Might they choose to do business with another company or another representative? YES.
Solution- Pour your water into a thermos and walk into your meeting with your head held high. Not only will that firm be very impressed but, right away they will think that you both have something in common.
